Mindfulness and Anxiety

Attendees joined Jonathan’s Voice and and IP Inclusive for an event to mark Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. We welcomed back the wonderful Dr Sally Rose, whose session explained how our  nervous systems and distracted minds fuel the fire of fear that manifests as anxiety and panic.  Mindfulness-based attention practices can help us to work with the thoughts and feelings of anxiety and panic that we all experience. By acknowledging the presence of fear, we can observe the reactions and guide our attention to safe and stabilising things in the present moment, which in turn can rein in the anxious mind and calm the fire of fear.

Sally introduced attention practices and a way of approaching unpleasant experiences that can reduce anxiety and help us recover our equilibrium.

Workable Ranges – a map and method for better balance and wellbeing

This workshop from Jonathan’s Voice and IP Inclusive showed you how to understand and regulate your nervous system and to manage your mind and body for being well, working well and not burning out. It was led by Sally Rose and Nicola Neath who are workplace counsellors and experts in workplace mental health. As well as enabling you to recognise your own signs of balance and imbalance or stress, they demonstrated how the model can help us to self-regulate and harness our variations in energy and capacity.

World Suicide Prevention Day 2023

The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day which is marked each year on September 10th is again “Creating Hope Through Action”. We are all called to action to help prevent the deaths of the estimated 703,000 people who die by suicide worldwide each year.  The latest statistics for England and Wales (2021) show that 5583 deaths by suicides were registered, 6.9% higher than in 2020.

The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) has produced a short video about the action we as individuals might be able to take. It writes

“By encouraging understanding, reaching in and sharing experiences we want to give people the confidence to take action. To prevent suicide requires us to become a beacon of light to those in pain. You can be the light.”

What it’s like to be us

Jonathan’s Voice and IP Inclusive jointly hosted a webinar about mental wellbeing for paralegals, IP support staff and those who work with them.
