Amazing fundraisers!

There have been some great fundraising events in the past few weeks. Following on from Mark Fyson’s City2Surf run last month, a team from Haseltine Lake Kempner (HLK) Bristol entered the Bristol 10 km and Gill, Jennings and Every (GLE) undertook a sponsored work out. Kev Gill from Mapperley Golf Club (Jonathan’s Voice is their charity of the year) ran 30 miles in 5 hours 46 minutes.

The Bristol 10km event and the GJE workout both raised over £1,000 but they were also opportunities to remember a friend and colleague. Jonathan McCartney was a partner at HLK who would have enjoyed running in the Bristol 10km.

GLE’s workout took place in the same week as World Suicide Prevention Day to remember Ollie Besetherwick, a valued member of the team at GLE who like Jonathan, took his own life. Jonathan’s Voice is very grateful for the financial support that both of these organizations have provided and to all those who took part, donated and shared in the organisation.

Kev Gill writes about the challenge he undertook. “I started with running the Nottingham half marathon which I completed in 1hr 55min, I was happy with that. After picking up my medal and goody bag I swapped gear with my friend. I then proceeded with the next stage of my challenge of the other 17 miles towards home in Sutton In Ashfield. I got to the 26.2mile point (full marathon) in 4hr 37min again very happy with this time as it was my first ever full marathon distance and continued on until I reached the 30mile point in 5hr & 46min very tired and extremely achy legs. think I have raised nearly £1300 for the charity.” A huge thank you to Kev for his magnificent run and for the financial support and interest of Mapperley Golf Club, Nottingham throughout this year.
