Mental Health and Wellbeing Workshop for University Researchers

In February, Jonathan’s Voice delivered two one day training sessions, one at Sheffield University and one at Manchester University to PhD students who are part of the EPSRC CDT (Centre for Doctoral Training) in Advanced Metallic Systems (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/metallicscdt ).

In addition to the two guides for those working in the intellectual property profession, Jonathan’s Voice developed a guide for post graduate research students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). https://jonathansvoice.org.uk/resources-2 These training session were based on the guide. The guide has been disseminated to very many universities and has been most favourably received.

The in-person training was delivered by two of our mental health trainers, Penelope Aspinall and Barbara Lawton. The sessions addressed the following: the mental health continuum, understanding stress, perfectionism and imposter syndrome, protective action and self care, support and what to do if you are struggling.

Jonathan’s Voice is also pleased to have been invited to provide a workshop/training session for early career members of the Institute of Physics (IoP) this summer.
