We are delighted to let you know that we have updated our senior leaders’ guide to reflect some changes post Covid and to recognise the important role that managers play.
This new guide provides information and practical guidance on the preventative, proactive and reactive steps you can take to protect the mental health of your IP organisation and the individuals within it. This results in better productivity, less staff turnover, less burn-out, is more attractive to younger people seeking to join the profession and so on. To state the obvious, we all thrive when we are happy at work, feeling looked after, respected and appreciated
Senior leaders and managers both play a vital role in establishing good mental (and physical) wellbeing in the workplace. Senior leaders have the power to create a culture which genuinely recognises the importance of staff wellbeing and the many benefits it provides.
Managers play an equally important role. They are the ones most able to ensure that policy and good intent translate into action. Crucially, a person’s line manager is usually the first person people will go to when they are struggling or conversely, they are best placed to pick up on the signs that someone is not coping. It is then down to the manager to address these issues and put in place steps that will help. These are complex skills and only too often, a person is given a managerial role with little or no training in how to do this.
Alongside the guide, we provide a one-day in person training workshop for managers to increase the skills and confidence need to support staff who are struggling. We feel this is best done in person and over a sufficient length of time to allow the sharing of ideas and experiences which are essential to effective learning and processing of new ideas and information.
We do appreciate, however, that a full day in person is not always possible so we also provide a two-hour online workshop looking specifically at spotting the signs and how to ‘have the conversation’.
We will always discuss what you need beforehand to ensure that what we deliver is tailored to be most appropriate for your company.
